Welcome!

My name is Alexandra Engel.

I am an academic librarian at the University of Freiburg (Germany), where I manage the collections for German Studies, English Studies, and General and Comparative Literary Studies and Linguistics. I hold a PhD in Linguistics from KU Leuven (Belgium), where I was part of the Quantitative Lexicology and Variational Linguistics research group (short: QLVL). My research was situated within the framework of cognitive sociolinguistics and supervised by Benedikt Szmrecsanyi, Jason Grafmiller, Laura Rosseel, and Freek Van de Velde. I focused on the role of register (i.e. the situational context of language use) in morphosyntactic variation in English and Dutch, employing a combination of corpus linguistic analyses and psycholinguistic experiments.
